Terms of Service

Last updated October 21, 2026

1. About these Terms

Recess is a community app for verified college students. These Terms are the agreement between you and Sangho Park, an individual, who runs Recess ("we", "us") about using the app. By creating an account or using Recess you agree to them, to the Community Guidelines and to the Privacy Policy.

2. Who can use Recess

3. Your account and password

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Choose a password that is hard to guess and keep it private. We can never see your password. If you think someone else has access, change your password in Me, or use Forgot password.

We may ask you to verify your school email again, for example when your access to a campus ends or renews.

4. Your content

Posts, comments, listings, events, messages, photos, videos and your profile are your content. You keep ownership of it.

You give us a limited licence to store, copy, show and deliver your content inside Recess to the people it is meant for (for example, verified students of your campus), and to run, secure and improve the service. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we need to keep for safety or legal reasons for a short time.

You promise that you have the right to post what you post and that it follows the law and the Community Guidelines.

5. Rules of the community

The Community Guidelines are part of these Terms. In short: be respectful, protect other people's privacy, be honest, keep it relevant and stay safe.

Posting anonymously hides your name from other students. It does not put you above the rules: we can see which account wrote reported content, and we may act on it.

6. The market

The market lets students list and ask about items. Recess is only a place to meet; we are not a buyer, seller or agent in any sale, we do not handle payments and we do not check items, listings or people.

Deals are between you and the other student. Meet in a public place, check the item before paying and do not send money in advance. You are responsible for following the law, including rules on what can be sold and on reselling tickets.

7. Events and messages

Events you publish must be real, accurate and open to the people you say they are for. Messages are for talking about a listing; do not use them to harass, pressure or scam anyone.

8. Reports, removals and suspension

Anyone can report content or conversations. We may review reports, hide or remove content, limit features, suspend or end accounts, and when someone may be in danger or a law requires it, share information with your school or the authorities.

If you think we made a mistake, ask the team to look again. We will consider it, but the decision on whether Recess is right for the community is ours.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Me. Deleting it removes your account and the content linked to it, and ends these Terms. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or the Guidelines or if your school access ends.

10. No promises, and limits on our responsibility

Recess is provided "as is". We try to keep it safe and working but do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or free of harmful content or people.

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for what users post or do, for dealings between students, or for losses that come from using or not being able to use Recess. Nothing here limits rights that the law does not allow us to limit.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms as Recess grows. When something important changes we will tell you in the app. Using Recess after a change means you accept it.

Recess may later be run by a company set up for that purpose. If so, these Terms and your account move to that company, and we will tell you in the app before it happens.
